Grettel Store Manager

Owner Grettel Comas has a motto that shines through all she does. Whether showing a customer around her store, building a beautiful custom gift basket, supporting her husband M. Michael’s photography business or her associate John Cutruzzola’s artwork, her attitude is “at the end of the day, everything is a gift!” How we interact with others, how we provide exceptional customer service, who we are as a human being – it’s all a gift we’ve been given to share with the world and Grettel enthusiastically and lovingly shares those gifts – her exceptionally creative talent, sure to please even the most discerning customer. Grettel sources gorgeous products for her store, a “gem of the downtown Brampton core” and an exceptional retail space. Here the customer is invited AND encouraged to feel comfortable wandering, touching, feeling and exploring the fabulous collection of unique items Grettel has personally sourced from around the world.

Who We Are

Grettel Comas, originally from Costa Rica she came to Canada to visit friends and in true Cinderella fashion, found the man of her dreams, married and raised a beautiful daughter who is now a teacher. Grettel needs to “move, do, and act,” saying she cannot just sit. As a result, BACI Gifts was born. For more than 15 years the store has been the hub of high-end, designer giftware, sourced from around the world, a destination for the discerning consumer. Grettel’s energy is infectious and her enthusiasm unparalleled. From not speaking a word of English on her arrival in Canada, she was a Board member of the Downtown Brampton BIA (Business Improvement Association) Co-chairing various committees from 2015 to 2023. She has served as Co-organizer of community events such as Latin Fest in 2017 and the Live Art Competition from 2016 through the present year. Grettel is also an active member of the BPW (Brampton Professional Women), an organization that supports a variety of charitable initiatives. Grettel is a business owner who has fully embraced this country, this City and its people and who wants to both support and give back wherever she can.

BACI Gifts offers fully customizable giftware and gift baskets for any occasion including: Corporate events, Christmas gifts, Valentine’s, Mother's Day and other special celebrations, as well as birthdays, welcome baby, communion, confirmation, new home, sympathy, retirement, employee awards, charitable events, grand openings, special anniversaries and more. If you have something to celebrate, Grettel invites you to ”come to BACI, tell me your story and I’ll build you a basket that represents a little something that shows you care - for those you care about.” 

Sourcing only the finest materials, Grettel builds a basket that tells a story. She works with exclusive suppliers who are chosen because they provide only the best in quality products. In a service that is unique to BACI, Grettel might choose to have a beautiful handbag serve as your “basket” stuffed with luxurious hand cream, a precious patterned umbrella, sweets and perhaps a lovely piece of jewelry. In other words, the vessel can be anything and the contents contained within it are limited only by your imagination!

Other variations on her custom made baskets might include artwork sourced from her husband Michael’s extensive collection of stunning photography taken over the past 30 years operating as M. Michael’s Photography. As well, new for 2020, Baci is offering custom greeting cards for any occasion, featuring some of M. Michael’s best pieces!

BACI’s collection also includes fine gift items for men, women and children, a variety of exclusively sourced from Canada products, along with Canadian souvenir items and a vast selection of gorgeous giftware from her extensive travels around the world including: Chile, Spain, Costa Rica, New York City, England and other European destinations too.

Baci Gifts is at the centre of everything!  You can start or end your Downtown visit right here at 37 Queen St. West. The Rose Theatre is nearby and you can grab a coffee at one of the "coffee bistros" in town, then come and browse our selection. Bring the family for a skate or a splash at nearby Gage Park or to visit the Peel Art Gallery - Museum and Archives (PAMA), then stop and visit our store before heading home, the kids will love our collections. A number of both fine and casual dining options are in the vicinity and City Hall is in our backyard!

Municipal Parking options abound and the first hour is free from Monday to Friday. Evenings, weekends & holidays are free. Remember we are in the heart of downtown Brampton at 37 Queen St. West. Tuesday to Thursday 10:30 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 10:30 am to 4:00 pm. Sunday and Monday by appointment only!

Unique to BACI

Baci offers an added bonus for art lovers everywhere – a great addition  that is now available to the public is the expansion of their premises as they assume the rights to the space adjacent to Baci Gifts and as part of their commitment with The Arts of John Cutruzzola "Gallery 35" has born. For a number of years, Grettel Comas and John have shared a passion for fine art, with Baci Gifts showcasing the wonderful artwork of Mr. Cutruzzola. While his work has always been on display at BACI, Gallery 35 is now open and displaying John's fine artwork and its extensive personal collection. If you are a collector of fine art, plan on pursuing the artwork of philanthropist, businessman and arts patron John Cutruzzola, while also shopping for fine gifts, jewellery and custom gifts at Baci Gifts.
